Redstone Project Development Meeting November 9th, 2006.
November 5, 2006 TO RESIDENTS OF FOREST HILLS, N. 5-MILE ROAD, ELMA DRIVE FROM: Betty Wilson, Forest Hills Homeowners Assoc. You have no doubt already received notice of the Traffic Information Meeting for Proposed Redstone Development to be held November 9 at 6:30 p.m. at the Brentwood Elementary School. This is a follow-up meeting to report the findings of a traffic study done by Whipple Consulting Engineers, agent for Harley Douglas. Many of you attended the initial meeting held last April.
This is to be an “informational only” meeting which means our input won’t mean much here. We will have a better chance to be heard at the public hearing (yet to be scheduled).
The results of this study would seem to reveal the following:
Access for this development is still to be N. Five Mile Rd. only.
52 residential units are to be created (26 homes, 13 duplexes).
A “Florida T” intersection with signal is being created at Waikiki/N. 5-Mile Rd.
Elma Drive will likely be permanently impacted with increased traffic.
Sight distance is inadequate at project’s entrance so 35 m.p.h. speed on N. 5 Mile will be reduced to 25 m.p.h. near project.
Project will add 606 average daily car trips on roadway (probably underestimated due to nature of duplex occupants in vicinity of Whitworth College).
PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND THIS MEETING. IT WILL HELP US PREPARE FOR THE PUBLIC HEARING LATER!!
